Extensive involvement in the organisation of the Group, including Treasurer (2000-2002), Secretary (2002-2004), vice-Chair (2004-2005) and Chair (2005-2007).

Awarded the Distinguished Service Award of the Society of Chemical Industry (2009).

Co-organised many meetings with the Society of Chemical Industry. These have included multiple symposia on Drug Discovery, Drug Design and Proteinase Inhibition along with the well known biennial ‘Cambridge Medicinal Chemistry’ symposia held at Churchill College Cambridge, UK.

Recent meeting topics have included: Reducing R&D Attrition through Toxicity Prediction during Drug Discovery, Drug Discovery Outsourcing, Technology Transfer and Biopharmaceuticals. Currently in the planning phase is a meeting on the effects of ‘Thermodynamics on Druggability’ and a second symposium on ‘Early Safety Prediction’.
